DAY 1: Selous game reserve:
Depend with your flight schedule, either is from Dar es salaam 45mnutes or from Zanzibar 1hour to Selous Game. You will be met at the airstrip in Selous by driver guide who will transfer you to the lodge. En route, you will enjoy your first experience of this incredible and diverse reserve. You will have lunch and siesta. Afternoon head out into the reserve for game drive and enjoy the sunset.

DAY 2: Full day game drive in Selous:
After your first night in Selous, awake early to a dawn chorus and spectacular views from your room (“banda”). After a quick cup of tea or coffee, head into the reserve as dawn breaks for a full day game drive and a thrilling boat safari on Lake Tagalala. There is nothing quite like sitting with your packed breakfast amongst the huge hippo pods, crocs and amazing birdlife on the lake. Return to the lodge for a late lunch and siesta by the pool or visit the lodge’s tree house and water hole for the remainder of the day, the choice is yours (Packed breakfast, L, D)

Day 3: Walking Safaris in selous game reserve:
Walking safaris into this magnificent reserve will allow you to explore the surrounding area and the smaller flora and fauna often missed on a game drive. Enjoy a tree house visit en route back to the lodge to check if anything is drinking at the waterhole. Return to camp for a late breakfast before relaxing around the lodge or at the spring water swimming pool. After lunch, visit a local Maasai village close to the lodge which is home to Saita, chief of this particular village and friend of Sable for many years. The close proximity with Saita ensures that this is a non-commercial experience which often includes Saita as escort giving an explanation of the traditional uses for various indigenous plants in the area. Afterwards, return to the lodge for your final night at the lodge

Day 4: Selous to Dar-es-salaam:
After breakfast, transfer to the Matambwe airstrip for your flight to Zanzibar. Or Dar es salaam.
How to Get to Selous
By Road:
The Selous Game Reserve can be accessed on a road safari however, when traveling from Dar es Salaam, there is a direct route that covers a distance of 240 km / 149 miles following the eastern road. The drive is bumpy and long taking you 6 to 7 hours which is nearly half a day’s drive.
By Railroad System:
The other way to access the Selous Reserve is by using the TAZARA (Tanzania Zambia Railway). It begins in Dar es Salaam, and takes you on an adventure through the trails in Tanzania’s wilderness up to the Matambwe railway. On this journey, you will enjoy the attractiveness of the green countryside. The ride takes 4 to 5 hours.
By Air Transport:
The third alternative to get to Selous Game Reserve is by using a charter flight. There are numerous departure flights connecting from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Arusha that land at different accommodations or public access airstrips.
