DAY 1 :Fly to Dar es Salaam:
Fly to Dar es Salaam international airport and met on arrival, You will be transferd to Golden tulip for dinner and overnight stay, if you wish to enjoy the town, or dinner out, please talk to your transfer driver; because this service is included without any extra cost.
DAY 2-4: Lake Manze Tented Camp, Selous Game Reserve:
Meet on arrival into Dar es Salaam and transferred to the domestic airport for the flight into the Selous Game Reserve. Met on arrival and transferred to Lake Manze Tented Camp where you will stay for the next 3 nights on a full board basis. This great little camp was established on the banks of the lake of the same name and is a superb location for seeing all types of wildlife, in particular elephant that wander slowly through the camp. While a simple camp, there is a great atmosphere!
DAY 5-7: Mdonya Old River, Ruaha National Park:
Transferred to the airstrip for the morning flight to Ruaha NP. Met on arrival and transferred to Mdonya Old River Camp, on the western side of the park, to stay for 3 nights on a full board basis. This small camp, like it’s sister, Manze, offers great value for money and exceptional game viewing year round.
DAY 8-14: Sunshine Hotel, Zanzibar Island:
Met and transferred to the airstrip in time for the morning flight via Dar to Zanzibar. Met on arrival and transferred across the island to Sunshine Hotel to stay for 7 nights on a half board basis. This idyllic little beach lodge is set on one of Zanzibar’s best beaches and, while offering simple accommodation, it is a superb options for a few nights.
DAY 15: Fly home
Transferred back to Zanzibar Airport to fly to Dar es Salaam international airport to connect onto your international flights home.
How to Get to Selous
By Road:
The Selous Game Reserve can be accessed on a road safari however, when traveling from Dar es Salaam, there is a direct route that covers a distance of 240 km / 149 miles following the eastern road. The drive is bumpy and long taking you 6 to 7 hours which is nearly half a day’s drive.
By Railroad System:
The other way to access the Selous Reserve is by using the TAZARA (Tanzania Zambia Railway). It begins in Dar es Salaam, and takes you on an adventure through the trails in Tanzania’s wilderness up to the Matambwe railway. On this journey, you will enjoy the attractiveness of the green countryside. The ride takes 4 to 5 hours.
By Air Transport:
The third alternative to get to Selous Game Reserve is by using a charter flight. There are numerous departure flights connecting from Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam and Arusha that land at different accommodations or public access airstrips.
